Music Business Worldwide – UK program internship
Over May 11 to 20, 2011 period in London within the scope of Music Business Worldwide – UK program internship will be organized for Music Business and Entertainment Industry Management RMA students, in order to survey the basics of international music business and have an insight into the music culture of Great Britain.
The internship schedule development was supported and assisted by the world’s largest international companies and institutions involved in music industry. Those included:
The draft program of internship includes:
- Visiting Universal Music, Sony Music, ЕМI/Virgin, MTV UK offices
- Guided tour to Town House Studios
- Visiting Real World Studios, Peter Gabriel's sound studio
- Meeting with Steven Bel-Brown, Boy George's producer and the manager of his record label named More Protein
- Visiting IFPI office and meeting its members
- Visiting BBC, participation in live music radio show named “The Streetwise"
- Meeting with Hugh Gilmour, EMI Design Manager
- Workshop of David Levy, concert agent (William Morris Endeavor Entertainment agency - Madonna, Björk, Lady Gaga)
- Workshop of Denis Ingoldsby, music producer and international publishing director of t.A.T.u. and Dima Bilan
- Meeting with Marc Almond
- Visiting London’s dancing clubs Fabric, Matter, Turnmills, East Village, meeting their management
- Meeting with Rupert Truman, Storm Thorgerson’s Agency servicing featured music projects, from Pink Floyd to Muse
- Meeting with Stewart Bell (Paul McCartney), Katie Holmes (Bang On PR Agency - The Prodigy, Brian Eno, Portishead and others)
- Meeting with Alexander Kan (BBC World Service), Selector composite authors (syndicated program about modern British music broadcast all over the world by The British Council)
- Meeting with authors of Q music journal
- Meeting with Evgeniy Strigalyov (jazz musician, Charlie Wright's art director, Live Nation Representation)
During introduction sessions from MMF Training the following subjects will be discussed:
- Music Business: yesterday and now
- Copyright protection issues
- Comparison of sound recording industries of Russia and Great Britain
- Music management: 2010 key events analysis
- Music on TV, radio, and Web
- Organization of concerts and tours
- Entertainer-audience relations as a business model
- The sessions are conducted by University of Bolton, Royal College of Music instructors as well as music managers in practice
The Program price includes:
- Moscow – London – Moscow international flight
- 3* double room accommodation in London and Brighton (BB)
