Our students become volunteers of Universiade 2013 in Kazan

On March 12 in Moscow, a trilateral signing ceremony was held, which laid the basic for the cooperation between the upcoming 2013 Student games in KazanGUU (The State University of Management) and «Sport Industry Management» department, under the hospice of educational company RMA. The grand ceremony was attended by the head of staff, and advisor to the general director of the executive head-office «Kazan 2013» Larisa Sulimova, the chancellor of the State Management University Viktor Kozbanenko, the general director of RMA company Kyrill Kulakov, the head of the «Sport Industry Management» RMA department Igor Kolesov, as well as other university officials and students.

As part of the ceremony, a large scale roadmap was presented for the upcoming international student summer games, and its associated volunteering program. The volunteer selection campaign is going to be at the heart of the trilateral cooperation.

«GUU became the second Moscow based educational institution that has joined our program, as well as 45th overall across the country, – says Larisa Sulimova. – Together with our new partners, and on the basis of the « Sport Industry Management» program, we will be conducting the training of the volunteer, who will then be working in various sports facilities during the students games of 2013».

Igor Kolesov, had in turn pointed out that «thanks to the wealth of experience that RMA has specifically in the area of sports-management training, the fulfillment of our trilateral agreement will be greatly enhanced by the participation of the renowned specialists-practitioners. Already this year, – he says, – the volunteers, assembled from the ranks of RMA students, will begin their visits to Kazan' and participate in the preparatory events, which will be the basis of their internship in the upcoming 2013 student games».

«The total number of volunteers that will be needed during the student games is approximately 20 thousand, – says Igor Kolesov, – our current task, is to assure that the professional skill level of the volunteers will be on par with the highest standards of the games themselves. For example, in order for our students to gain more practical experience, we have, since the last December, began to increase the number of sports venues that will be necessary for them to attend».

«And by the way, – shares his thoughts Igor Kolesov, – the signing of the memorandum with the executive head office of the Kazan students games, isn't our first step in the direction of introducing the students to working at the large scale international sports venues. Currently, we are also developing plans for their participation in the volunteering program at the London Olympics as well at the Olympics in Sochi. And in this regard, we are maintaining close communication with the "Sochi Tourism and Recreational Business University". This collaboration plays a key role in the development of the volunteering program for the Winter games of 2014».
