RMA students have attended a lecture given by the dean of «Soccer Industry» faculty at University of Liverpool doctor Rogan Taylor. The lecture was organized as a part of «Knowledge Stream» project by the «Digital October» techpark with an active assistance by the «Sport Industry Management» RMA faculty. The format of the event was based on video teleconferencing: doctor Taylor was located in Liverpool, while his listeners were in Moscow. Nevertheless, due to the high quality of technical arrangements, the remote location of the lecturer did not affect the sense of presence, neither the ability of students to address their questions and receive answers.
The event, subject matter of which was stated as «Soccer. Playing on the digital field» was dedicated to the influence of newly emerging media platforms on the world's most popular sport.
«If we are talking about the specific possibilities that are opening up to the clubs that own their own digital information channels, one of the first ones to be pointed out would be their ability to monetize the media content, the copyrights to which, instead of being sold, were retained by the club».
«Only the club owned channel can and should become the source of the exclusive insider information: such as announcements of the newly signed contracts with the new players, or a new sponsor deal being signed. Only the club channel can become the single source of the club players' and coaches' interviews, which could be timed and measured in the volume most appropriate for the given club. Only that kind of channel can become the club's single loud speaker, through which the club can shape and broadcast it's point of view on any and all related matters, without having to worry about the information being misinterpreted, as it often happens when information is relayed through the non club dependent media sources».
«If you do understand all that, if you realize the importance of the timely delivery of the exclusive information to the interested audience, and all the related benefits, then your fans will quickly get hooked onto your broadcasting, and will learn the address of your web site much quicker, giving you the ability to generate additional revenue. However, if you do not, you will inevitably lose out, and all the important information will be received by your audience with delay from other media sources, that will capitalize themselves on your information», - emphasized the dean of «Soccer Industry» faculty at university of Liverpool.
